Cedar Shavings by the bag, Cedar

Shavings in south Missouri and north Arkansas, 100
% Cedar Shavings Cedar Shavings
Bring a little of the natural outdoors indoors. At
our mill we use every bit of the cedar tree, wasting
nothing. Cedar shavings are just one of the ways we
preserve the tree for various uses. From the very first
cut of the tree the aroma is fresh and clean smelling.
Cedar can be lightly sanded at any time to bring out the
full aroma all over again and it lasts for years and
years.
Cedar shavings are extremely useful. The Indians
used to use cedar for everything from building canoes,
the framework for the tepee, and so many more useful
items because it is durable and lasts so long. They
also used cedar shavings to make teas for rheumatism and
internal pain, poultices, toothaches, wound dressings,
gargles, and a poultice for carbuncles.
They are used by the gardener to keep weeds from
taking over the garden and for the pathways too. Cedar
shavings can be used around trees, bushes, and for
decorative uses. Cedar is a natural insect repellant for
organic gardeners. It controls lice, mites, fleas,
mosquito’s, gnats, bedbugs, and poisonous snakes. You
can also put your lily bulbs in cedar shavings to
protect them from insects and fungus diseases. Cedar
shavings can be soaked in hot water to bring out the
oils, strain it in a cloth, and put into a sprayer for
use in spraying your yard.
Whether you have the smallest of pets or the largest
of farm animals, cedar shavings can be used for bedding,
in kennels, barns, and poultry houses. It not only
deters insects including fleas, but helps in the ease of
keeping the area clean.
Cedar shavings can also be used as an insulator. It
can be used in dog houses during the winter for warmth
and during the summer to keep it cooler. If you have an
area under a house or outbuilding, cedar shavings come
in very handy. Shavings can be stuffed into concrete
blocks as an insulator and keep insects at bay.
Crafters use cedar shavings for aromatic sachets,
potpouri, incense, fragrant decorations, and stuffing
various items. Cedar shavings can also be added to Knox
gelatin in muffin papers/tins for fragrant room
deodorizers. Cedar shavings mixed with household glue
can be shaped into very aromatic household deodorizers.
Just as cedar is great for cedar closet linings,
cedar hangars, and cedar shoe racks, sachets can be made
from shavings to place in your shoes. Tennis shoes
often harbor smells you certainly don’t want in the
closet.
